Innovation Enabling Impact

Interoperability by Machine-readable Publicly Available Computer standards is Transformative

Welcome to San Francisco, where Innovation and transformation begin, and where IMPACT is a deliverable.

Addressing Climate Change will require the coordinated actions of many seeking to make an impact on this vital issue, from the global UN Sustainable Development Goals to the smallest city, from the largest utility and energy producers to the smallest solar installation contractor, from the largest financial institutions to the smallest insurance broker and local bank.

What binds the efforts of all is the innovative use of data to provide intelligence as the foundation for data driven decisions, the intent to internally use data to track and monitor success and quickly respond to failure, and the requirement to report externally.

The DOE Orange Button has expanded the XBRL taxonomy with almost 5,000 new machine readable data elements that will enable programmers to innovate new ways to capture data and covert it to actionable intelligence for utilities and energy producers, along with better capabilities for utilities to interact with stakeholders.

Financial markets, insurance companies and surety markets can develop new products and services that support the entities responding to Climate Change, and public agencies along with regulators can have consistent and reliable data to carry out their objectives for addressing Climate Change.

Meet with, and hear from, the people that are making an IMPACT.

Overview

Financial reporting for climate change related activity is enabled by the expanded XBRL Taxonomy, and can be expanded even further so that the financial reporting for climate change disclosure for “impact investment underwriting” can be utilized by the financial markets for “impact credit underwriting” to make solar more bankable.

Just as impact investing seeks to encourage investment in companies that are making an impact on climate change, we are encouraging financial markets to consider impact credit support for companies that are making an impact on climate change, particularly those in the solar and clean energy.

The two “impact” influencers are inter-related from a raw data perspective, both would utilize Orange Button data elements.

Lenders, insurance and surety companies that contribute financial products that make solar more bankable can have that activity reflected on their own corporate reporting as climate related financial disclosures.

Making an Impact on Climate Change
UN Sustainable Development Goals

Data Driven Decisions

San Francisco will be host to the Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) which will bring many Impact leaders that have come to the City to exchange ideas, share and learn.

To contribute to that dialogue and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we are hosting an Impact Event to bring together national and international leaders to explore, expand knowledge and create relationships for those committed to making an Impact in fighting climate change.

The building and maintenance of a modern, financially sustainable, secure, resilient energy and transportation infrastructure that aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals is a vital component to fighting climate change because it forms the foundation for providing certainty to capital and financial markets along with investor owned utilities and independent power producers while promoting innovation for developing and utilizing cleaner energy to fight climate change.

Our Head Table brings a range of Public Service along with Capital and Financial Market expertise in developing resources and establishing the polices that will enable a modern infrastructure, and we have limited space for inviting guests that each bring expertise and perspective to the challenge.

The GCAS is not about presentations or speeches, it is an opportunity for engagement and interaction with other Impact leaders in different areas of expertise to better understand what others are doing, how data can be leveraged, what proposed legislation can achieve, and where synergy and collaboration can contribute to a better collective and coordinated outcome to fight climate change.

We are excited about that expertise coming together, and expect the opportunity to both share and learn from each other will result in better coordinated implementation and adoption of regulations, legislation and strategies that leverage open data standards to enable Data Driven Decisions for encouraging emerging new technologies and tomorrows innovations.

No better place to convene such an event than the Olympic Club, the first club to provide climate action reporting in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.  The Olympic Club is making an Impact.

To further that opportunity, particularly the spontaneous, we have secured various breakout rooms at the Olympic Club to accommodate each of our guests should an opportunity arise and where a quiet meeting place is needed.  Making an Impact can happen without being planned, and we are planning for that.

Breakout rooms are available by contacting me and letting us know you wish to utilize the space.  The outline has a schedule of availability, and has pictures so you can see what the space looks like.  You are welcome to take advantage of the space for any desired meetings, including last minute opportunities that may come up, public or private.

Before and after the main event we will be showing a documentary from Roger Sorkin, the Current Revolution.  Except for the main function additional guests are welcome at the film showings and can be invited to breakout meetings or the bar and lounge in the Hall of Fame room on the first floor.  Just let me know you are coming and with how many guests to make sure we are prepared.
